Christmas tips for pet-owners

Christmas time is here. The holiday season is a time for parties, fun and wonderful food. However, it is important not to forget to make this holiday fun and festive for your pets as well. By paying special attention to the needs of your pet, you can make December the most wonderful time of the year for the whole family.
Here are some of our tips to having a safe and enjoyable December and holiday with your pet.

1. Mind the sweets
Candy and especially chocolate can be dangerous for pets. Keep the candy and chocolate out of reach for your pets, and give them dog-treats – not human treats!

2. Don’t get burned
Keep any live candles or decorations far out of your pet’s reach! A curious pet can easily knock over a candle and get burned or start a larger fire

3. Respect your dog’s space
Your pet can easily get stressed if you have many parties and too many guests. If you know you’re going to have a full and noisy house it might be a good idea to get a dog-sitter

4. Keep regular eating routines
Hang on to your dog’s regular diet with dry food, and avoided feeding your pet with greasy Christmas food. Try not to deviate from familiar feeding times

5. Prepare for fireworks
Fireworks are very loud, and can be quite scary for pets. You can give your pets medicine to keep them calm or you can train your dog to be comfortable with loud noises.

We hope all of you have a merry Christmas and safe New Year!
